Frog Prince - Princess Naveen
From the new Disney movie There's also a new prince in town - Prince Naveen. From his far-off kingdom of Maldonia, Prince Naveen has an irresistible charm and hearty/carefree enjoyment of life that captivates those around him. Although spoiled and irresponsible, Prince Naveen’s virtues are in fact a result of his imperfections. Unfortunately, he has to show these virtues through another side, as a frog prince.
Prince Naveen, the frog prince, has a passion for jazz. During this time such jazz greats as Louis "Louie" Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Paul Whiteman, King Oliver, Earl Hines, and Jimmie Noone
are having an affect on the jazz movement, causing it to become widely known.
According to Disney supervising animator Randy Haycock (who also animated Prince Naveen), “Disney has a long tradition of princes, but we’ve never had a prince that really influenced a heroine. It was always love at first sight." In other words, the princess sees the prince, falls in love at first sight, a song usually breaks out, and they gallop, run, walk, fly, or sing into the sunset and live happily everafter. But Mr. Haycock continues, "For once we have a girl that meets a guy and it follows a romantic-comedy idea where the couple meet and they really don’t like each other.” Also, as a twist, the heroine this time around is Princess Tiana. How refreshing, especially with this being a Disney princess movie.
Here's a quick summary of what the movie will reveal in detail. The town is buzzing about Prince Naveen, the handsome, chiseled young man, soon to be frog prince, whose in town visiting Big Daddy LaBouff and his daughter Charlotte (the wealthy family in the movie). Prince Naveen has an assistant, Lawrence who conspires to do harm to the prince because of jealousy and the fact that he's not attractive nor noticeable by anyone - in other words, unlike Prince Naveen, Lawrence isn't turning heads.
By plotting against Prince Naveen with the voodoo villian Dr. Facilier, an evil sinister man who strolls the streets lurking on unsuspecting tourists by offering to tell their fortune, Prince Naveen is turned into a frog prince by the evil Dr. Facilier. Lawrence is then made into a handsome prince, but the effect is only temporary. In order to be made a permanent handsome prince, Lawrence has to have the blood of a real prince, that which Dr. Facilier schemes to acquire. Prince Naveen in his quest to reverse the frog prince curse placed on him, meets Tiana and somehow convinces her to kiss him. As a result, she becomes a frog too.
They're swept away into the deep bayous of Louisiana where they come across bugs and alligators and a few other adventures before discovering a few things (like love) along the way.

Like anyone else, Prince Naveen has flaws. But in this movie, the frog prince reveals one of Princess Tiana's major flaws - she doesn’t know how to appreciate life nor does she khow to enjoy herself. "That’s what Naveen teaches her,” Haycock says. “He teaches her to settle down once in a while and simply appreciate what’s going on. Have some fun, enjoy, be happy with what you have around you.” This is a lesson that many of us still need to learn.
